The town of Ostend has something special and heart-capturing, maybe because it is a seaside parish?
The English way of life is to some extent embedded in local, cultural and social life. Ever since the 1600's there has always been, in varying numbers, and through historical developments, an English colony in this town. Not to mention that at some period the English community numbered about 2000 on a population of 16000. About 12.5%.
This almost continual presence through turmoils and two World Wars inevitably had an impact on Church life.
For different reasons Belgian men and woman ended up in England during wartime. Some of them married English citizens and came back to live in Belgium and Ostend becoming long-standing members of this Church. So the mix of all these past historical events explains, we think, to a certain degree our allegiance to this Seaside Town.
This Church and its congregation extends a warm welcome to visitors and we hope that with us you will be able to enjoy this parish and the town of Ostend in all its facets as much as we do
